Pelikanova is satisfied after Friday’s free practices at Donington as she reduced her gap under the guidance of a new coach
Czech motorcycle rider Alexandra Pelikanova secured 22nd and 23rd place in the opening free practice sessions of Supersport 300 category at Donington.
A nineteen-year-old native from Brno was satisfied with her performance as she managed to reduce her gap to the fastest rider significantly under the guidance of a new rider coach. „So far, it's the best race weekend of this season for me. From the very first practice session I felt great on the bike,“ the Kawasaki GP Project female rider. The race weekend at Donington is the first one for Pelikanova under the direction of Andy Ibott, a British rider coach. He previously cooperated with another Czech motorcycle rider Lukas Pesek. „Andy's advices and suggestions helps me a lot. The position is not the best, but the gap to the front is much smaller than on the previous race weekends,“ Pelikanova continued. She completed 16 laps in the morning training and secured the 23rd place with a time of 1:47,199. While she completed only 14 laps in the afternoon training, she improved by more than a second and a half. Her best lap time of 1:45,597 was enough for the 22nd place in group B of Supersport 300 category. She finished the practice session more than three seconds behind the fastest rider. „I feel I can go even faster. I hope to follow up on today's performance in tomorrow's Superpole, and if we can't qualify for the main race on Sunday straight from it, we’re going to fight for it in the Last Chance Race,” Pelikanova added.
The race weekend at Donington continues on Saturday with the last free practice session, the Superpole and the Last Chance Race, a race from which the first six finishers who fail to qualify for the Supersport 300 race directly from the Superpole will qualify for the main race on Sunday. Start of the race is scheduled at 16:15 CET.
