Pelikanova enjoyed the Last Chance Race, but thirteenth place was not enough to advance into the main race
Alexandra Pelikanova finished thirteenth in the Last Chance Race, and despite the fact that in the race itself she progressively improved her fastest time from the entire race weekend in Portimao, Portugal, she did not qualified for the main race of Supersport 300 category on Sunday.
After Friday free practice sessions, in which she finished in 23rd and 24th position of Supersport 300 B category, nineteen-year-old native from Brno continued in search of the ideal setting of her Kawasaki Ninja 400 and was constantly improving her best lap time. „Unfortunately, after a pretty good Friday I did not do well today. I couldn't put together a fast lap either in the last free practice or in the Superpole,“ Pelikanova said. She finished in 26th position in the Superpole, and then started into the Last Chance Race, a race from which the first six finishers qualify for main race on Sunday.
„I did a good start and overtook several riders. In the first corner, however, I got stuck behind one of the slower riders and lost several positions. It took me a while to get to a good pace, and in the meantime a group of riders in front of me drove away. I was able to catch a few of them and in a group of about five people we had a good fight. Unfortunately, it was not enough to advance to the main race. All we have to do is to continue our work, to train and focus on the next race so that it finally works out and I qualify for the main race on Sunday,“ the Kawasaki GP Project female rider added.
The next World Supersport 300 race weekend will take place from September 27th to 29th, 2019 in Magny-Cours, France.
